A short but persistent white head with a pastel purple tinge builds over a beautiful dark garnet to merlot body while clinging in doily ridges.
The nose is funky as hell...actually, way beyond funky!!! At least freshly poured, it's like a sort of vegetal talc that nears gag-inducing dirty diaper. After taking a sip (and taking some time to coax myself into it), the experience reminds me of durian, where the palate certainly alters one's perception, but the nose remains difficult to get past. My partner says it's closer to moldy cheese, which I can perceive after it warms, as well as after a few sips, but the aroma is just far more intense than that for me, up front.
Taste exhibits sweeter, drier and complex red grapes with black pepper, like cherries for a kriek. Again my partner suggests more notes, and just as she does, I do get blueberry characteristics in spades. She's definitely helping me through this one. At its final state, I also get some unusually herbal notes, something like nasturtium or cilantro.
It's really hard to rate this because the taste is actually very unique, unlike anything I've ever had, but I'm so driven by smell. However, the aroma did improve over time, but was just so damn intense at colder temps.

On tap. Pink hued white head. Ruby red color.
Surprised by this. A bit tart, but tasty. Funky and jammy. Lemon citrus. Very refreshing. Surprised it is 8%. Tastes like 4. Lots of flavor here.

Newer release from Lambiek Fabriek, bottled 8/22. Muscaris Bleu grapes, Belgian-grown.
Cherry, raspberry, blueberry notes, mellow oak, gentle acidity. Orange crimson with a finger of crackling pinkish foam and rapid carb. Aroma has a bit of briny funk to it, lactic acidity, mild oak and leather. Fruit expresses more in the taste. Spritzy feel, manageable acidity, somewhat tannic, supple vinous feel. Pairs well with goat cheese and fruit, or a hearty beef or game dish.
Overall this was very nice, subtle and nuanced with a unique fruit profile from the Muscaris Bleu grapes.
