Served on tap in a 16 oz (473 ml) conical (disposable) plastic glass at the Jamesport Farm Brewery.
A: Pours a seemingly clear, dark copper color with a one finger, lemon chiffon head, rim plus retention, but lacing hard to appreciate.
S: Light aromas of molasses/caramel, black coffee, unsweetened baker’s chocolate, and, maybe, plum rind.
T: Dry, actually quite dry. Flavor profile follow the nose, but definitely picking up a bit of cola (RC more than Coke or Pepsi). Solid bitterness that counteracts any trace of sweetness.
M: Light bodied with more than moderate effervescence.
O: First, this is basically a Schwarzbier, although the brewery does characterize it as an American Brown Ale. Second, it is very tasty -- would use it as a local "go to" for the style. Unfortunately not canned (yet).
