Pours a dark amber color, nice ruby highlights. The khaki colored head is tight and creamy; leaves a small wall of lacing on the glass.
The aroma is sweet. Notes of molasses and toasted pumpernickel.
The taste starts with a light scorched caramel flavor followed by a tart cherry. Toasted pumpernickel, honey and brown sugar from the malt. Composted wood and carob. Excellent malt flavors without being cloying.
Moderate to full feel; semi-soft carbonation. Sweet on the palate and slightly cloying . Tad sticky.
A big thank you to Jamesport for making this style. It has been missed. Excellent example. Perhaps add a slight smoke element?
