a very clever cream ale brewed to taste like carrot cake! never heard of such a thing, and cool to have a dessert beer thats not a stout or porter! this is a little more orange in color than most cream ales, maybe taking some color from the carrots this is made with. it has a great nose and flavor with all the cake elements i was hoping for when i ordered this. cinnamon and vanilla in the nose, a doughy, slightly sweet grain base, and even the earthy carrots and walnuts, at least i perceive all that. i like that it sort of skips the frosting, this doesnt need to be sugary, and as it exists right now, i could easily drink a bunch of pints and not be sugared out. i really like the carrot in here, its vegetal and natural and real, something you dont often see in beer. i think the cream ale could be a little crisper on the base, but the body is rightly lighter medium and the carbonation is excellent. almost all of the beers i had in here were innovative and well executed. i am expecting big things out of these guys moving forward, i was really impressed with all i had from them on my visit!
