Minor head but it leaves a few thin streaks on the glass. Beautiful dirty copper color. Clear.
Very mild aroma with barely perceptible malt and hop smells.
The taste has a deep, not so sweet, toastiness. Full bodied with ample carbonation. Plenty of bitterness. Although advertised as a British IPA, this has stronger elements of a west coast IPA--dry and more bitter.

This is a surprisingly good IPA and one of the better Japanese craft beers I have sampled.
Hints of flavor, subdued compared to IPAs from the USA but definitely moving Japan in the right direction. No complaints about it, but a bit lacking for the experienced drinker.

270ml keg at Ichi-Ya Bar, Kyoto, Japan (¥648):
This was a beer with a pleasant enough taste & it was definitely the better of the two beers from the brewery that I tried during my time in Japan but like the Joshuaku Plum Ale before it, this one just wasn't strong enough at any point & almost seemed weak & bland at times too. There was some hop & pine bitterness at times & the nose wasn't quite as bad as the taste but it never really got going sadly.
