Burning Phoenix Jalapeno (2025) from 11th Hour Brewing. 16 fl oz can, purchased 26/02/26 from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. $ 4.75/$ 0.297/fl oz. In reefer at distributor, stored at 40 degrees F at home. Reviewed 10/03/26, review 3702. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Bottom of can stamped “11/28/25 HOT!” Served at 45.3 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 56.1 degrees F.
Appearance – 3.5.
First pour – Straw (SRM 3), clear.
Body – Pale Gold (SRM 4), clear. Under direct light, same. When rear-lit, same.
Head – Average (Maximum 2.5 cm, aggressive center pour). White, high density, short duration; the head drops to a 0.25 cm crown fed by spotty carbonation, and a thin partial cap.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 3 – Green Bell Peppers. No malt, no hops, no alcohol.
Flavor – 4 – Moderate pepper vegetal flavor with moderate heat. No malt, no hops, no alcohol (6.2 % according to the label). No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Moderate gastric warming.
Palate – 4 – Medium: Watery: Soft carbonation.
Style: The BA style description for American Pale Ale doesn’t really apply to this brew – should be “Chili Beer.”
Final impression and summation: 3.75 Uncredited label art. Like most jalapeno peppers, this is very vegetal with some heat – not what I’d call hot but just kind of spicy. When it first came out (2018/2019), I don’t think “Chili Beer” was a style. It could be easily improved by charring the peppers before adding them – a little smoke would certainly ameliorate the general harshness.

Well, it certainly comes as advertised - there is a ton of jalapeño flavor & heat on this one. The base beer is fine & blank enough to support that big, bold note. Didn’t love it myself - just too much - but if you love jalapeño you may get more mileage

I'm trying this at the brewery and basing my review on bartender intent as opposed to my taste. It poured a clear golden with thin white head that is not leaving much lace. The scent was jalapeno delight. The taste was jalapeno from start to finish and had a spicy kick. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it was too hot to really enjoy for me.
