The actual name of this beer (as of June 2006) is "Slam Dunkel" but I didn't want to create a second entry in the database, as this is clearly the same beer. Anyhow, I had this on tap at the brewery, and found it quite tasty!
A: High carbonation and a thin head. A dark, cloudy amber.
S: Lots of banana bread, like a hefeweizen on steroids or a weizenbock on a diet, with a hint of bubblegum.
T: Good banana flavor throughout, with both sweeter and more sour highlights. Though the flavor is fairly one note, the different shades of banana that emerge over the course of a pint keep things interesting.
M: Very creamy with medium body and good length across the palate.
D: Very high. This paired really well with a spicy cajun pasta dish, and I could imagine it doing well with other peppery and spicy cuisines. An all-around mouth healer and thirst quencher.
Along with Spruce Goose, this is my favorite of Steamworks beers. Highly recommended.
