Quick pour elicits two fingers full of head, pale and white over top a light golden brew, very clear. Sweet grain smell, tiny bit dry and grassy, with minimal hopping. Decent appearance and smell, better than your average light lager.

High carbonation and a few more handfuls of grassy hops than, say, Bud, lend a very brisk mouthfeel to the Engineer, quite crisp and pleasant. Elsewhere things are clean, etc. about par for the Helles style. As it warms up a bit, the hops stay as prevalent as before, while the malt develops a slightly sweeter, fuller, "darker" flavor than would be expected. Remarkably tasty.

More spritz and taste than anything I've had called Light Lager. I grabbed this one by mistake from a different beer's six pack (organize your shit Sun Devil!), but I was very pleasantly surprised by the overall depth of flavor that developed with the Engineer. Good flavors, decent hopping for a mini-beer, no adjunct "cooked veggie" DMT flavor. Recommended for those really hot days..

When poured vigorously it forms a three finger thick, pale white colored head that has some staying power to it. The beer is a brilliantly clear gold color that has a touch of visual carbonation to it (perhaps I poured too vigorously). Aromas of sweet grain waft to my nose as I pour this beer and upon further inspection this seems to be the dominant note. A dry grainy note is here, as well as a grassy, slightly herbal hop note. The aroma is fairly light, but much more well balanced, hoppy and apparent than say a typical macro light lager.

Briskly chilly, the beer starts out with a sweet grain note and a hop bite, but the first sip fades away quite quickly on the palate. At this temperature this has a bit of a bite to it; it is a combination of carbonation and hops. The hops, while used with a light hand, are distinct and in addition to the bitterness provide some nice hop flavors to counterpoint the clean malt profile. a combination of sweet malt and grassy hop notes linger on in the finish; just lightly dusting the palate with the beers passing.

With a name like Light Lager, I really want to not like this beer, but it is really well crafted. It is nicely balanced between malt and hop. The hops, perhaps, just dominate, and of course this level of hops would never be allowed in a macro lager, much less macro light lager. Not to mention that this has a really nice, clean malt character to it; I would be hard pressed to say that there were any adjuncts used in this beer, which isn't that a prerequisite for a Light Lager. All in all this is a nice refreshing beer, that I am tempted to say is being wrongly named. It certainly does not fit that standard definition of a light lager.

12 oz bottle. Best before 10/06

clear pale straw with a flufffy white head.

aroma is grainy and slightly skunky.

flavor is slightly sweet slightly acidic, but mostly bland.

Hard to find anything good to say about this beer. If it were catagorized as a macro pale lager, it might score higher. It is better than your basic macro lagers, but not $2 more a 6 pack better.
I wouldn’t buy it if you gave me money to

this review relative to the style, and this is the best light lager i have had. pours a very pale yellow with a slight hint of orange. not much head but retains a thin layer. smells like mild grains with a faintness of hops. taste is very well balanced, grains, some hops, and bitterness. very smooth for the style and doesn't have a funk like some of the macros. if i can find it, i would definately buy again.

smells very floral - spicy like marigolds. This is very yellow, it reminds me of straw. The froth is pretty white, light and dissipating. The eratic carbonation bubbles look like balloons rising above a fair.
Fantastic! Rich and big on the palate. Spicy, spritzy finish like carbonated clover honey. Geez, golly that's good. Dry cracker feel after letting the carbonation roll around. I think this is really great. This was so unexpected, like the Steam Engine Lager. This wasn't lite at all.
