Another beer from March Madness 2017. Called a flanders on the bottle, but a wild ale here. Bottle says 6.5%, untappd says 7%, this place says not listed.
Pours a red and amber color as opposed to the bigger ones that go more of a dark red and brown. 1/3" off white head. Average retention. Aroma leans on cherry, they appear to be added (holy moly, read that untappd description, its a mess, somehow alleging a blend of a belgian golden ale + lambic = this beer, hard no). A bit of that red wine barrel too.
Taste pushes a light complexity, light chocolate note, bigger cherry note, the red wine barrel in the middle, level of sourness is middling, non aggressive nor acidic stuff. Carbonation was fine. It was basically a traditional flanders but with added cherries and perhaps a light amount more of sourness. So overwhelmingly, it stayed within style guidelines, and even where it slightly went outside them, it did so in the most of conventional ways. The result is a good beer, acetic acid present, but again, appropriate for style. Winner.

Received bottle from forgetfu...thanks Bill! 22oz bomber with a simple label on it, reads:
Ned's Red
70D Belgian-Style Lambic or Sour Ale
2011 Great American Beer Festival
Pours brown in color, similar to an Iced Tea. Poured into my Drie Fonteinen tumbler. Huge frothy white head rises and very slowly dissipates. In fact, the last 1/2 inch of head remain for a long period of time. Fantastic sticky lacing all over the glass. The legs pretty much remained glued to the glass sides.
Aroma is ok. Not a lot going on to be honest. Some sour cherries, distant. Belgian yeast, wood.
Flavor is pretty close to smell. Some wood, mild tartness/sour cherries, more brett noticeable then any other wild yeast. Late funk in the swallow. Plenty carbonated
Overall, a tasty sour...nothing over the top, nothing bad. It's just good. An easy drinker as well.
