a more powerful political statement i think than it is a beer, but i identify with it, and enjoyed the drink, so all is well. i always expect something unexpected in the beers these guys make, they get so creative and draw on a wide range of traditions and styles, i was surprised to see such a straightforward offering. its a well made berliner, dry, clean, wheaty, acidic, and low alcohol, but its not particularly interesting, despite being high quality. the unique element in this one is a pretty sturdy hopping, likely heavy on the dry hopping, which adds a complimentary citrus vibe to the tart lacto souring element, and serves to extend the flavor quite a bit. i like it having a little body from the wheat, and carbonation is on point for high volume consumption and refreshment, but its a touch more sour than it needs to be, at least for my tastes, and ends up being sort of forgettable as a beer, especially for these guys, who always leave me scratching my head, or at least shaking it in amazement. that said, i have often wondered how we might as a community better use beer to affect social change, send messages, educate, who knows, maybe even inspire revolution, and while this is more of a cheeky little gag, i think it opens the doors to greater use of the liquid and the packaging to promote such ends, and i support that strongly...
