Pours a hazy, golden amber, peach coloration with a small, fizzy head. Smells of doughy malt, peaches and just a hint of tropical fruit and a certain grassiness. Taste is light doughy malt and slightly tart peaches, with quite a mild acidity and some light, hoppy tropical notes of papaya and pineapple in the background, as well as some hay. Finishes with a light tartness and some peaches and chalk lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a light/medium body and medium carbonation.
An okay, but not great Berliner Weiße that just comes across quite wishy-washy, with a very light tartness/acidity, not very assertive fruitiness, somewhat chalky/soapy aftertaste and also completely lacks a crisp, sparkling mouthfeel. I really had expected more from Freigeist.
