(review from January 2024) Another well balanced, solid 2x NE DD from BKS w/great palate heft; thick haze; big hoppiness/bitterness for a NE & a complex fruity/melony/citrusy/juicy flavor&slightly sweetish, lingering, mouthcoating finish. Yet again a smooth fooler of an 8%er that sneaks up on you and dangerously quaffable indeed!

Pours an opaque bright orange with two fingers of snow-white foam. Head retention is great. Aroma is grapefruit, mango and melon. It's tropical fruits, but not overly sweet, instead hitting the sweet notes quickly before more ripe fruit sweeps into the foreground. A little resiny, dank hop adds some further depth. Flavor profile is grapefruit, mango, tangerine, and melon with those former tropical fruits hitting a little bit more sweet and forward than the nose. Some resiny and dank hops add some bite to the back, but they pale in comparison to the initial tropical fruits. Mouth feel is medium in thickness with a mild effervescence throughout. Combine that mild effervescence with the fine, but consistent, silty texture and it creates a velvety, but smooth feeling. Overall, between the pleasant forward bite of tropical fruits, the late stage biting hops, and the texture, this one provides a very nuanced hop display. Easy to drink and yet abundant with flavor.

This Double Double variant pours a yellowish-gold, with an off-white head that vanishes after a few minutes. Moderate, delicate lacing. Lots of malt in the nose, with some bubblegum and citrus.
The taste is also quite malty, with more bubblegum, citrus, and green pepper; minimal hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is very smooth, with a slightly spicy finish.
Can purchased from the brewery 10/30/2020.
