This Morningside variant pours as dark as one would expect from a stout, along with a brown head that quickly dissipates. The aroma is toasty with a hint of coffee acidic bitterness. The taste has more complexity, with toffee combined with a light roast coffee and a chocolate-like sweetness from the lactose. The finish is much fuller than I expected for one of this ABV, and lingers with a coffee and cream flavor.
I should have reviewed it when it was slightly more fresh; the coffee flavor has faded just a bit from when I initially tried it. Can purchased from the brewery 2/6/2021.
