Poured at fridge temp. Pours a very dark brown with minimal head. Nose is fantastic. Toffee, raisins, plums, booze, chocolate, rye, brown sugar.

The taste...oh the taste. Huge burst of toffee right away. The rye whiskey is also very dominant. What a fantastic combination! Raisins, figs, maple, chocolate, honey, brown sugar. Spicy and sweet. Just a wonderful marriage of flavors on this one - extremely well integrated.

Mouthfeel is thick bodied and generally sweet on the aftertaste. It's definitely boozy, but I wouldn't guess 14% on the taste. Warming and smooth. Overall, an absolutely fantastic BA English barleywine.

Pours a toffee brown color with a little sediment and fog to it. Head is a finger of khaki foam. Aroma is boozy, but carries some sugar notes just beyond the initial booze. Notes of toffee, raisins, molasses, and toasty and caramely malts fill up this full nose. Rye heat and spice really opens up and closes it out, allowing the body of the barleywine to carry through the median of the nose. Flavor profile is toffee, raisins, molasses, with caramely, toffee, and earthy malts. A little more grit and earth to it in the flavor profile than the nose. Rye heat comes on heavier at the finish, wrapping it up with some spicy dry booze. Mouth feel is medium-thick with a smooth consistency. Overall, big booze throughout, especially at the onset of the nose. The dry rye adds some depth, but also cuts it a little short.

Served in a 12oz tulip from a 375mL bottle.
