Poured at fridge temp. Pours a very dark brown with little head. Tiny bubbles rising throughout. Nose is toffee, brandy, plums, raisins, a slight nuttiness, and almost a smoky note. Really interesting.
The taste blows this thing up. Huge explosion of brandy, chocolate, toffee, marshmallows, vanilla, plums, figs, tobacco, rich malts, brown sugar, raisins, almonds. So much going on, and the ABV isn't noticeable at all. Incredible.
The mouthfeel on this is silky smooth and medium bodied. Sweet on the aftertaste, but not too much. Overall, a wonderful barleywine. They know what they are doing!

Pours a toffee brown color with a mild level of fog. Head is a finger of khaki foam. Aroma is apple brandy right from the get go. It's not overly sweet, instead offering up a touch of additional sweetness and complimentary booze to the underlying barleywine notes of toffee, raisins, fig, and molasses. Malts of caramel and toffee add some depth and base to the nose. Flavor profile carries those sugar notes forward, hitting toffee and fig right off the bat. Both the toffee and fig fold seemlessly into apple brandy, with the brandy portion just countering the sweetness enough to offer balance. Caramel and toasty malts round it out. Mouth feel is medium-thick with a creamy, but smooth texture. Overall, the apple brandy here adds so, so much to this beer. It compliments the nose, but really takes off in the flavor profile.
