BKS Artisan Ales
Date: Unknown
The beer states it is a sour IPA; I could not find that category for it. The beer is served in a tulip glass around 46 degrees. The pour created a massive three-fingered creamy and airy white head. The slow dissipation left gobs of lacing on the glass. The color charts around SRM 6, straw yellow with golden hues. The clarity is somewhat hazy with a few lazy carbonation bubbles.
The aromas are fruity sweetness, mangos, oranges, floral, orange peel, a hint of grapefruit, a touch of grassy, herbal, and a slight lemon scent. I do detect a subtle sourness.
The flavors are fruity sweetness, lightly toasted malts, bready, biscuit, mangos, peaches, apricots, oranges, floral esters, a touch of phenols, fruit tartness, and hop bitterness. The sourness becomes more prevalent as I took more sips.
The mouthfeel of the beer is astringent, crisp, and puckering.
The body of the beer medium, medium carbonation, and long finish.
This beer is incredible. The sourness comes out perfectly, it is not over the top. The fruity sweetness balances out the beer. The firm malt backbone held against the onslaught of hops. I loved this beer!
