Pours black with three fingers of mocha colored foam atop. Aroma is roasty and toasty malts with sweet lactose sugar underneath. Mild coffee, smoke, chocolate, syrup, and maple do give it the aroma of a breakfast served up in a small bed & breakfast, no one note out shining another. Flavor profile is heavy chocolate, and maple, mild coffee, and some green pepper and smoke right on the end. Roasty, toasty, and caramely malts add firmness underneath, although it never leans into wholly dark or heavy, with sweet lactose sugar keeping it from dropping into the depths of darkness. Mouth feel is medium in thickness with a stillness around the edges. Interior is plush and frothy. Overall, underlying stout notes are complimented well by the sugary and complexity additions. The smoke additions are very minor, adding just a touch of bitterness at the end.
