Pours black with three fingers of caramel colored foam. Aroma is sugary vanilla bean right off the cusp, with hearty roasty and toasty malts behind. Caramel, molasses, and soft earthy notes add a smooth roundness to the nose that helps keep the sugary start within balance. Flavor profile is caramel, molasses, toast, and hearty vanilla bean. That sugary vanilla bean brings with it a mild maple syrup quality, which helps push it more towards sugary sweet. The upside is hearty roasty and toasty malts come in to counter the initial sweetness well and do well to taper off the initial sugary qualities. Mouth feel is thick with a fuzzy neppy texture throughout. It's cozy, like snuggling up into a cozy tacky sweater. Overall, a steadfast hearty imperial stout that's accentuated well by sugary vanilla bean. It never dips into dessert territory, which is wonderful.
