Pours black with a fluffy three fingers of khaki-tan colored foam floating on top. Aroma is roasty and toasty malts, with a bit more of an emphasis on the roasty side. Cacao nibs add velvety chocolate notes with a hint of bitterness. Mild lactose and caramel work there way into the aroma, but are afterthoughts to the focus on cacao and roasty malts. Flavor profile features the same potent density, hitting roasty and toasty malts alongside cacao nibs, baker's chocolate, and milk chocolate. Lactose adds a little sweetness to the otherwise bitter chocolate profile, bringing it back towards balance. Caramel, molasses, and mild earthy notes round out the falvor profile. It has a hearty flavor profile, not landing in the 'dainty' territory for a milk stout, but the 13% ABV foreshadowed that potency. Mouth feel is thick and full with a hearty creamy consistency. Overall, a hearty stout that puts its focus on cacao notes. Chocolate notes are wonderful and abundant, but don't push this stout into dessert or cloyingly sweet territory.
