Pours black with three fingers of fluffy caramel-colored foam. Head retention is good. Aroma features vanilla right off the front, with toasty, caramely, mild roasty, and earthy malts. Vanilla is the focus though, bringing with it enough sweetness to keep this from dipping into the bitter or alcohol-centric realm. Flavor profile features vanilla right at the front again. Caramel, toasty, earthy, and mild roasty malts round it out. As a whole, it leans sugary sweet, with a firm enough flavor profile to keep alcohol from leaking into the notes. Bits and pieces of fig and raisin help add a little further sweetness and decadence to each and every sip. Mouth feel is thick with a creamy texture. Overall, a splendid dark beer that does well to hit dark beer notes without being a stomach anchor. Vanilla bean is spry and lively, being featured throughout both the aroma and flavor profiles.
