Pours black with three fingers of fluffy mocha-colored foam on top. Good retention. Aroma is roasty and toasty malts with lactose sugar and sweetness right below. Maple syrup and coffee follow up malts, adding a swell of sweetness and roasty delight. Mild chocolate adds some additional sweetness. Despite the lengthy list of sugary notes, the balance is solid, tipping just slightly towards the sweetness side (vs. bitter.) Flavor profile is chocolate, maple syrup, and coffee. It's a pleasant blend of Sunday morning breakfast notes. Toasty and roasty malts add some depth and help ground the maple a touch. As the nose suggests, the flavor profile is a little sweet as well, but not quite to dessert levels. Mouth feel is filling with a medium-thick consistency and nice creaminess. Overall, a good balance of nice dark stout notes and maple and coffee. Maple is the more dominate note of the mix, but not in a bad or demeaning way.
