Peppery, punchy, and dry. This winter seasonal is soft burnt orange with dormant carbonation, an eclipsed head, and no particular lace. In both aroma and taste it makes broad overtures to the Belgian pale style though with some intrusion of alcohol. A season of careful aging might soften the contours and enhance the character of La Houffe, which I believe is French for The Hoof, n'est pas?
