On tap at PreFunk. Big, bold, hoppy. Mildly hazy golden pour with spare head, but curtains of lacing. Huge hop nose, even moreso in taste, coupled with some astringency. Bitter, lasting hoppiness at the finish. Hides the ABV well.

On tap at ABV earlier today.

A clear orange/amber with a dense, off-white head with excellent retention and lacing, this looks great. This is, in the BB tradition, a fine, pungent, resiny, fruity DIPA. Quite bitter, very clean but with a mild sweetness more along the lines of caramel than the simpler sugars that I've found in other BB beers. The palate opens bitter, pungent, resiny, mildly green with hops and with some sweetness and mild booze on the mid-palate. Bitter, pungent and resiny on the finish, this is a solid beer, though the sweetness does make this a little less enjoyable than other BB beers. Solid.

On tap at the Apex the other day.

Given the wide range of excellent IPA's and DIPA's made by Barley Brown, this is something of a failure. It still a pretty decent IPA/DIPA, but the beer struck me as a bit boozy and hot on the finish, with the alcohol a bit more noticeable than I normally prefer. Still, the nose has that customary dusty, light skunky weed and dry citrus aroma I pick up in a most of the BB's IPA's, and there's plenty of hoppy bitterness in the long, fairly dry finish.

Still a good beer, but by BB standards, not one of their better efforts (IMHO).
