Draft at PreFunk. Hazy orange, looks like nectarine juice. Aroma is grapefruit peel, sharp notes, tart citrus. Tadte is more of the tart citric flavors, melon, tropical and some earthy grassy elements. Dry, bitter and tart.

A dull, ugly, murky haze. Not vibrant at all. Flat as well. Maybe it was the keg/tab. Smell and taste were ok.
Extremely disappointing after having the world-class Overhopulation.

I indicated that this was a limited release, one time batch, but I'm really hoping I'm wrong about that. On tap at Growler Guys SE Portland the other day.
The beer pours the expected hazy, nearly opaque golden amber color with good head retention and lacing. The nose is attractive in this beer, as I pick up a fair amount of tropical fruit, but with some interesting lime, cherry and light pine as well. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely, but the flavors in this beer are exceptionally bright and fruit forward. The finish is exceptionally clean as well in this well crafted beer, and the alcohol is very well integrated into the flavor profile. There's also a touch of bitterness in the finish of this beer, which I always feels enhances drinkability in these hazy IPA's. So I would say that drinkability is excellent in this beer. Another very solid effort from the folks at Barley Brown.
Couple of thoughts and observations. When it comes to making West Coast style IPA's, Barley Brown has few peers, but so far their hazy, NE style IPA's have been hit and miss. This is definitely a hit, and was a beer I immediately decided I needed a crowler of after my sample pour glass. When I first tried this beer, there was some sort of meeting going on with the folks from Revision brewing at Growler Guys, and GG had just put on that morning a keg of State of Haze and Whole Lotta Ruckus. Everyone seemed to be pretty enamored with the WLR, so I got a glass of it as well. It was quite good, but at least to my palate, when tried side by side with the DH, the DH was the superior beer. That's how good the new David Hazzelhoff IPA is (IMHO).
