Fresh hop version at Taphouse. Golden pour, light haze, small creamy head, lacing. Malty, biscuity aroma with a crisp hop presence. Taste brings a small bite, green, piney. Sticky, mouth coating.

a wet hopped pale ale done entirely with citra. its simple and even elegant compared to some of the wet hopped beers this year, and where a lot of the pale ales have failed to pop the way the ipa types tend to, this one is not hurting for hops at all, it explodes with citra. if it werent for the greenness though, im not sure i would be able to identify these as fresh hops, not much change between the citra pellets and the wet cones here it doesnt seem, aside from the slightly more oily feel and the light green vegetal aspect, which is more pronounced in the nose than anywhere else. i get a little breadiness to the grain, not a built up malt profile, but a little more than pale two row it seems, some minerals present along with a light middling sweetness that the hops seem to cling to, very northwestern even without much bitterness here. there is a nice cleanness to the finish of this that so few wet hop beers ever have, even though its still kind of off dry, the citra seems almost delicate later on, still with hints of lemongrass, green tea, and meyer lemon. a very drinkable beer in this style, not as dramatic as many, but a cool expression of the fresh citra. these guys always crush the hoppy stuff, and i am stoked to have been able to drink a number of their wet hop beers this fall!
