a clever wheat beer for winter here, another nice one from these guys, who never seem to miss, even in styles that can often be boring. this is darker in color than a lot of wheat types, copper amber in tone, well short of brown but not pale either. great head from the tap, creamy and white, and with nice retention. there is some immediate heartiness to this, a toasted or kilned element, not quite caramelized, but richer than a standard pale wheat for sure, giving it some wintery character and warmth, but still very approachable, a touch sweet. the flavor has hints of baked bread, toffee, and honey. its not sugary, but there is a little sweetness and body to it, its cleaner in the finish though, lightly nutty too, but not as dark and dense as i am making it sound, still real drinkable. smooth in feel, lower in alcohol, and lively in carbonation. i like that the wheat itself can be tasted so cleanly, and that its the malt that leads the way. a neat beer, a little something different for the cold weather, its always a joy to find new flavors from these guys, they are on point across the board. this is a drinker for the colder months for sure.

Growler from Albertsons. $6...can't beat the price. Pours out a copper/orange hue with a small fluffy beige head. So far so good. Initial aroma is toasted malt, brown bread, but soft. Taste is smooth and light, but body is a bit thin. Finishes with a bit of a metallic tinge, tannin perhaps.
