This is a dark lager Schwarzbier style aged with Madagascar Grade A Vanilla Beans. Its parent beer is Legio VII. The balanced toasted malts with low bitterness profile blended with subtle vanilla flavors and aroma make this brew refreshing to have anytime of the year.

Presentation: 64 oz. growler, served in a Samuel Adams pint glass.
Appearance: Thin, one finger tan head that goes away quick. Pitch black color. Good lacing that covers the entire glass.
Smell: Very sweet, with strong notes of vanilla and roasted malts with a coffee aroma in the background.
Taste: The vanilla taste is subtle at first but present and it comes through more as the beer warms which suits it well. It's a great complement to the coffee and roasted malt flavors. The beer strikes a good balance between sweetness and smokeyness.
Mouthfeel: Light and smooth with medium high carbonation. It goes down clean without being cloying despite the sweetness.
Overall: Another great offering from what's probably the best Puerto Rican brewery right now. They took their already excellent Legio VII schwarzbier and turned it up to eleven with a touch of vanilla. Highly recommended.
