Presentation: Draft, served in a pint glass.
Appearance: The one finger head goes down into a thin foam layer pretty quickly and leaves some patchy lacing all over the glass. It's a dark reddish brown color.
Scent: The aroma is not that strong but it's very peculiar. It's a slightly sweet and smokey scent with notes of roasted malt, dark roasted coffee beans, leather and cocoa.
Taste: It starts off with some malty sweetness and then rolls into a rich, roasted, smokey taste with notes of malt, spices and a slight hint of hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel: It's smooth, slightly creamy and dry with a medium body and medium-high carbonation.
Overall: It's rich, smokey and complex. A very well executed example of the style, but it feel slightly over-carbonated. It's a pioneering style in the commercially available Puerto Rican beer scene. Hopefully Zurc will continue to explore these lesser-known styles further.
