Aroma is fruity, sweet, and bready. The aroma is unusual for an APA; a bit sweet, a bit fruity, a bit sweet bread. I like the aroma, even if typical of an APA. I get no citrus, despite the brewer's stated hops bill.
Tall, slightly off-white thick head above an amber body, clear with modest amount of tiny bubbles rising. The head recedes somewhat slowly, leaving gobs of sticky and stringy lacing behind. (The second pour developed a huge head from a down-the-middle pour.)
The taste starts with the same character as the aroma, but adds a bit bit earthiness, and develops an impressive bitterness almost immediately (impressive considering the stated IBU). This bitterness carries through all the way to the aftertaste. The bready malts provide a nice balance to the hops bittering. The finish is relatively dry. The bitterness lingers well into the aftertaste.
The mouth feel is thin.
Overall, a decent, well-balanced APA, and one I would not hesitate to buy if at their taproom. In the larger world of excellent APAs, though, it is a bit below average.
