To celebrate our 5 year anniversary, we took out traditional Doppelbock and aged it in Far North Spirits' Bodalen Bourbon Whiskey and Roknar Minnesota Rye barrels. Expect initial notes of caramel and stone fruit, with a toffee and spiced oak finish.

750ml bottle sealed with a swing top cap. Bottle lettering identifies this as vintage '2022'. Hand marked bottle # 79.
Amber brown colored body. Light tan fizzy head when poured, but an island and ring persist. Very little lacing.
Aroma is bourbon soaked oak, prunes and dates. Slight caramel for sweetness.
Taste is boozy, with expressions of prunes, dates, oak, and more of a burnt caramel. At the very end there is vanilla oak.
Whole milk-like mouth feel. Somewhat smooth texture. Quiet carbonation.
This may deserve to be cellared for a year or two. As is, there is a rough edged hot booze bit that is a little harsh. There are the flavors of caramel and toffee that may emerge over time.
