If the sweet tooth is vying for your attention, and also you breakfast tooth, and also your French tooth, and then your beer tooth, then Fretboard Brewing has got a Brown Ale for you.

Just like french toast in a glass, Fugee pours with a standard brown color, seeming to carry and classic haze while building a loose and lofty froth. Upon the pour, the savory and sweet scent of maple engulfs the nose as the aromas of syrup quickly seduces the senses. With a background of coffee, chocolate, toast and cinnamon looming, the first sip is decadently sweet with caramel, honey and molasses.

Eventually rounding into a butter maple flavor and the middle palate gets the full brunt of maple syrup. Underneath it all lies a toasty chocolate and coffee flavor that attempts to take an edge off of the sweetness. A light cinnamon warmth adds balance to the flavors while adding nuanced complexities until a medium hop bitterness arrives late on the tongue.

Full bodied for brown ale and given even more heft from the linger of lavish sweetness, Fugee is a highly savory and sweet Brown Ale that's somewhat hard to palate. Highly cloying and chewy, the beer's decadent intentions definitely wins the culinary war but looses the drinkability of brown ale. A long and malty-sweet linger of syrup has me wanting Denny's for breakfast. ...but right after an insulin shot.

12 ounce can, canned on 08/18/20, thanks to Brutaltruth for this one! Served in a Rastal Craft Master One pint glass, the beer pours a dark brown color with about an inch frothy tan head that stuck around a while. Good amount of lacing. Aroma is sweet and malty, the brew smells mostly like maple, vanilla, and cinnamon, along with some chocolate and roasted malt. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's the addition of some coffee and dark bready flavors. It's still mostly sweet tasting but not overpoweringly so. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit slick and is easy enough to drink with a moderate amount of carbonation. If you're into sweeter tasting brown ales, I definitely recommend this one. I liked it a lot!

Look - almost black like a stout with a slight head that goes away quick
Smell - roasted malts with maple syrup and graham crackers
Taste - sweet syrup graham cracker and roasted malt like the scent. I'd say too sweet
Feel - medium light body and carb slightly lighter
Overall - good but to sweet dessert tasting

From the growler via Jungle Jim's Eastgate and enjoyed in a snifter.
This rather nice little brown ale pours a medium dark red tinged
brownish mahogany with a nice head of off white khaki foam that
dissipates to a thick ring, thin light pool, and displays some nice sudsy
lacing. Nose of maple syrup, earthy malts, hints of chocolate, and subtle
herbal notes. Flavors pack the punch for the style; woodsy maple notes
cascade over roasted notes, vanilla, subtle coffee, and subtle chocolate
malts with an earthy undertone and a touch of cinnamon stick. Very nice
mouth feel; medium body, light carbonation, and a nicely roasted finish.

Overall, a fantastic brew of a style that is not often done anymore.

Very nice

Cheers
