Liquid State Brewing Company

 

Liquid State is in the center of Ithaca and it has a great indoor space. Bar seating and plenty of tables. I did not notice if they had an outdoor space...so can't comment on that. The quality of the beer is great and the service was too. There is plenty of different beer styles to choose from so you should find something you like.

During COVID-19, it's important to be able to spread out at a brewery that has high ceilings, and this one fit the bill. We were also recommended to this place by the owner of Finger Lakes Beverage; that was a pretty strong recommendation. We enjoyed our visit here, especially partial to the Pilsner and Sonic IPA, although a tasting of the Crush hazy was worthwhile, and that one is certainly very good. Definitely worth a visit here when you are in Ithaca; there are not enough breweries around here because the wine people seem to dominate.

 

For comparison standards, my visit was around 10pm with an overall chill atmosphere

Hip little brewery in industrial building in downtown Ithaca. Straight bar just to the right of entry seats about 15 with 8 or 10 picnic tables spread about the rest of the room. Popular with the locals. A dozen assorted beers on tap, I had the Lil' Crush IPA and it was excellent. Friendly, knowledgeable bartender.

I arrived shortly after opening time. The ubiquitous " rustic + industrial" aesthetic that seems to be the norm made good use of the space. It was not crowded, most people were there for a post-work drink. Service was good, and the beers were decent. The lagers were more well-made than the hoppy ales that I sampled. They have potential to get much better.

Seemed like a nice place for the most part. I did not try many of the beers and took home a growler of the SonicIPA. The beer from the tap was reasonably good, candy sweet and malty. The server was nice. I noticed, however, that the four-packs for sale seemed to all be 4 months old. Pretty can design, but, if f I'm paying $14 for a four-pack of pounders from the brewery, the presumption is that I'm paying for freshness (rather than just paying 8.99 for a six pack of beer at Wegmans).

Staff is friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Atmosphere is cool with plenty of seating both at the bar and at the tables situated in this large facility. Large stainless steel tanks visible form most of the seats. Retro arcade games available (Pac-Man, X-Men, others) as well as old-school skee ball...all just a quarter. Some snack food available but if you're hungry, bringing in food from any of the local excellent restaurants is encouraged.

Beer selection is good, there were 7 beers on tap (all brewed in-house) and a cask. Growlers and crowlers available to go.

The beers I had were good and the cask was excellent. Typical merch available for purchase.

Awesome and chill place to drink. Based on the beers you wouldn’t think they were two weeks into grand opening. Very good beers with a chill vibe. I would definitely recommend going too.
