West Coast IPAs were the gateway into craft beer for a lot of us, and it's not hard to see why. Before Hazy IPAs and Fruit Sours captured our attention, it was the crisp bitterness and citrus hop character of the West Coast IPA that made us question what the act of drinking beer could be. Better Days is a nod to those beers, albeit in a slightly more contemporary form. Layers of citrus and pine hop flavour compliment a firm resinous bitterness that digs up memories of those first few sips that changed it all.

Here it is again, on tap at Arabella. Sour finish but some hop flavour was yielded overall. It's a tap filler, and worth a sip. A touch better than when I had it at Town.

This is an absolutely delicious beer and it's crazy that it's probably a bit too cloudy and toothsome to really work as a "West Coast IPA". This is what I remember some of the best "West Coast" and "C-Hops" American IPAs were like before they began to filter all of them in earnest as a defining feature of the style.
