Sampling a 16 oz can at cellar temp and poured into my .5L dimple mug. The beer pours a rich cola brown color and rests with little light passing through my mug. A fluffy beige head of just over 1 cm foams up and rests on the surface. This foam is faded to only a thin edge layer after the first couple sips of the beer.
Aroma is rich roasted malt notes and hints of dark chocolate, very roast, and the chocolate is definitely not a sweet scent. I dont get much hops, maybe a little balancing herbal tea note, but the roast steals the show here.
First sip reveals a medium to light body with smooth texture and fairly robust and prickly carbonation. Beer drinks pretty easy, although the carbonation does feel a little sharp on the palate.
Flavor is some light chocolate notes and roasted malt again, hints of sweeter toffee in the background and again some light tea like hop character on the finish. Never any ABV hints on this one. I find this to be a pretty tasty dark lager and am enjoying emptying the glass tonight.
