Visited on a Friday afternoon, early before 4pm.

A German themed sports brewery that had only two German beers on tap out of 12, which seemed odd to me. So if you are turned off by the thought of German beers you should visit, but don’t be disappointed by the general dearth of German style beers at a place branded as German.

V - A casual atmosphere. Open, bright and clean but more like a sports bar than beer hall. There is some nice outdoor area both in front on a covered patio and on the side with picnic tables, cornhole, etc. 4.0

Q - Beers were average. Served in the proper glassware. 3.75

Ser - No table service during my visit. Bar servers were pleasant and knowledgable. 4.0

F - The place does have food now but the chili was not so good, like it came out of a can. 3.25

This place has great food and beer. The banh mi brat sandwich is worth the visit. The neighborhood is a tad sketchy, but lends something to the visit.

The service was very good and the beer was served well. A nice selection of styles. Their Alone and Unafraid DIPA is excellent. Very much enjoyed the place and will revisit when in San Antonio.

this is a really rad little place, of the downtown san antonio breweries, i think i liked the vibe and the beer in here as well as anywhere. it sort of snuck up on is in a residential area, i didnt expect to all of a sudden see the place emerge from the houses, but there it is. inside its new and nice, like a small and cozy german beer hall vibe, mellow energy, lots of wood, casual seating, a small patio, and a long bar. the space is inviting and the people working are kind and welcoming, its got a really good feel to it. they had an impressive list of beers too, maybe a dozen or so on tap, some quite ambitious. the ginger and honey ale, the spiced porter, and the fruited gose types were among the most out there, while more traditional styles like baltic porter, dunkel, and ipa were also available. the porter with chilies, chocolate, vanilla, and cinnamon blew me away, a highlight of our whole vacation, but we liked pretty much all the beers we had. my brother was stoked on a strawberry milkshake ipa that was very good, and our ladies liked all the beers they had too. they do some food in here, its a limited menu, but i got some chili and it was next level, so i would definitely suggest a snack or two when you visit. the quality of the beer here was a standout in all of san antonio, they are way ahead of the game, and i suspect they will be very successful with beer this good. we had an awesome time in here and meant to go back but never had time. next time i am in san antonio this will be one of my first stops. dont miss it!

$12 for four(4) 5 ounces samples. 60 cents an ounce, with no packaging or shipping, ouch. I really hope that doesn't catch on, I'd have to go back to macro beers, as much as I hate that thought. Now I'm depressed, and that's not why I go to microbreweries.

Künstler might be a little hard to find on the south side of San Antonio even with GPS but it's worth the trip. There's not a lot of parking right out front but you should be able to find some on the street as it's really in the middle of nowhere, but then again, not really far from somewhere ;) There's a nice, small deck out front for when the weather's good (which is most of the time in S.A. - 300 days of sunshine), and there are two rooms inside, one main by the bar and another to the south. There are roughly 14 beers on tap at all times, and a limited selection of food items to chose from as well as daily specials. The space is nice and open, and comfortable, and while a little bit sparse, there's some nice detailing to look at (check out the hop lights on either side of the bar and the galvanized steel "male" and "female" forms on the bathroom doors). The service is great, although it is "walk up and order", and it makes for a nice, relaxing "hang".
