We took our Hop Nawi recipe with its "boatload" of Vic Secret and Galaxy hops from Australia and further enhanced the flavors, aromas, and body with the addition of mangoes, lactose, and Madagascar vanilla beans.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a one pint can on March 19, 2019. Brewed with Vic Secret and Galaxy hops from Australia. The addition of mangoes, lactose and Madagascar vanilla beans further enhances the flavors, aromas and body.

Canned 3/15/19; drank 3/30/19 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque orange appearance; champagne bubbles throughout.
A rough pour yielded a nice off-white head; strong, frothy lace.
Sweet mango, spring water & dry grass notes in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Mango & dry grass flavors; kinda water-y, especially for the style.
Decent IPA but far from a milkshake masterpiece. I'll pass next time.

Rambling notes: Pint can, approximately 2 weeks old. This is the fourth from a four pack, had drank two of the others from a glass (third went to my wife) and greatly prefer this straight from the can. The hype on Energy City in Chicagoland is palpable, but prior to this session I was ready to write them off. That said, I have had a half dozen or so different Milkshake IPAs, and this would rank second, behind More Brewing's Strawberry Marbles (which tastes like a McDonald's strawberry shake), but miles ahead of the other four milkshakes I've tried. Nawi Mango is more like a mango NEIPA, with a strong note of vanilla. The creaminess isn't quite there.

Appearance is a dark matte orange color. Completely opaque. Definitely looks thick and milkshake-y. Thick frothy white head dissipates steadily but not completely. Some minimal lacing is left behind along with a thin residual head.
Aroma has notes of mango, pineapple, peach, citrus and a touch of vanilla lactose sweetness on the nose.
Taste initially has notes of peach, mango, orange, grapefruit, orange rind with an unmistakable overarching vanilla and lactose sweetness permeating the whole beer. Some hoppy green bitterness is noted somewhat on the back end before popping and lingering on the finish.
Feel is medium to full bodied, smooth, almost creamy. Mild carbonation.
This is quite well done. The best part of this is that it manages to use the vanilla and lactose without making it overly sweet. This is the first Milkshake IPA that I've had which I'd drink again.

Just a intoxicating creamy mouthfeel. Smell starts with fluffy and bitter hops blending with the mango, orange, pineapple, pine, and vanilla to make a refreshing treat that is not overly sweet. The taste is a little muddled in comparison, having sips of rich fruit and hops flavors, followed by sips of yeasty pine. Still very enjoyable

Excellent beer. Canned. Cloudy dark orange, lacing goes quickly. Strong mango scent, citrusy/orange notes too, some sweetness underneath from the vanilla. Taste is pure juice. Sweet. Mild bitter hop back bite. Super tasty. Feel is mouth watering, mouth filling, creamy. Will grab two six packs next time.

16oz can, plastic can holder stickered 7/31/18. Thick pillow of foamy off-white head rests atop a cloudy & opaque tangerine colored ale. Zesty aroma of kumquat, mango, and passionfruit with faint vanilla and peach. Complex flavors include piney mango, orange, kumquat, vanilla. Body is thick and smooth, slight bitter finish, but it's more tangy than bitter. Not as good as Hop Nawi; it was good to try, but I wouldn't get it again.
