Having this beer on-tap at the brewery. Served in a snifter glass, this beer draws a very dark brown, almost black color with a white head that settles to a medium sized ring lining the inside of the glass along with some decent lacing. Big aromas of roasted malts and the Oaked Buffalo Trace Bourbon, the barrells of which this particular batch of this beer was aged in for 6 months. The taste is pretty much the same, with toasted malts with some caramel sweetness that’s dominated by black coffee bitterness and oaked whiskey notes. Rounded out with just a trace of earthy hop bitterness. Has a slightly oily, slightly syrupy, slightly chewy, also slightly crisp and yet somehow also somewhat smooth, medium to full bodied mouthfeel with light to moderate carbonation. Has a somewhat boozy finish. Easy to drink for the style I feel.
