32oz crowler purchased at the brewery. 13.00. Canned 3/23/18. Served in a Variant snifter. Enjoyed 3/26/18.
Pours a hazy peach orange with a finger and a half cap of dense, near-white foam. The froth gradually fades, leaving a thin rail around the edges and a few wisps across the surface but no lace.
Smells of stone fruit, melon, vague cake, some mango and a little hay.
The flavor is a bit muted when cold but as it warms there is much more going on. Notes of peach, honeydew, rind, berries, a crisp, almost pilsner malt quality, some mango, a little cakey malt sweetness and an occasional subtle reminder of the 8% abv. Both the times I’ve had this on tap and with this crowler I have initially been underwhelmed with my first sips of a cold pour. But once that chill subsides the depth of juicy flavor is fantastic.
Smooth, silky medium body with mellow carbonation. The aftertaste holds flavors of peach, melon and more of that pilsner malt aspect.
Variant comes out strong with this, immediately earning my respect. Cashmere So Soft & So Smooth is a great showcase for a hop I’d heard of but was as yet unfamiliar. Variant has this listed as a seasonal which I plan to enjoy many more times before it retreats into hibernation.

A very nice tropical aroma with a typical NE haze. Love the what the NE flaked oat profile does to the mouthfeel. High on abv for me to drink it often but hides it well.

On tap at Variant, 11.24.17
Disappointed with my first Variant offering, probably should have opted for Leeroy or Norcross St. Cashmere is soft and tender but not very memorable. Definitely in the cloudy, juicy NE vain but not a lip licker. Zero hop pop, kind of a muddled mess, but not bad just not great. Tough times for IPAs, so many accessible great ones in every state, really tough to stand out.
