32oz crowler picked up at the brewery. Filled 8/21/18. Served in a Variant teku. Enjoyed 8/23/18.
Pours a soft, opaque, apricot orange with a little less than two fingers of fluffy white head. The froth shrinks back to a broken halon and a few scattered dots of lacing.
Huge tropical fruit notes on the nose. Guava, nectarine, peach, passionfruit and some faint cake.
The dominance of tropical fruit continues in the flavor. Guava purée, passion fruit, peach, nectarines and sponge cake. Delicious.
Silky, soft medium full feel with moderately low carbonation. Guava and nectarine linger in the mildly bitter, fruit-infused finish.
True to their name, Variant has brewed up a delightfully tropical take on an already delicious IPA. Johnny Cashmere takes that single-hopped DIPA base I enjoy so much and crams it full of passion fruit and guava. I’m a sucker for feuited IPAs and this is a particularly tasty one.
