Appearance: Gold with an orange tint. Frothy white head with good retention.
Aroma: Bready with a hint of caramel. No real hops aroma.
Flavor & Aftertaste: Malt forward. Bready, caramel and honey-like. Very mild; but restrained bitterness. Finish was short, clean and crisp. No bitterness in the aftertaste.
Mouth-feel: Medium bodied dry. Moderately carbonated.
Overall: As a historical style, this one is challenging to pin down. Modern versions tend to be too dark because of specialty dark malts added. This one utilizes Vienna, Pale Munich and Honey Malt. Hops addition is Fuggle. Puts a nice new world spin on an old world recipe. Nice color. Has the proper amount of bitterness. I enjoyed drinking this beer. Well crafted. One of the few times lately I had a lager poured on tap with a proper head too! Beer flavored beer - if you will.
