Can dated "FIRST PLACE" 03/19/18 into a tulip.
L: Murky brown yellow with 1+ finger of sticky medium density white head with moderate retention and left some mixed lacing.
S: Like a pineapple spawned with a funky gym sock. This did not appeal to me in any appreciable level. Even once warm, and more floral and vegetal subtleties were perceived, it was still only limited in appeal.
T: While not knowing what a wet funky gym sock tastes like, this beer followed the nose to a high degree. Mild bitterness and astringency on the finish, clears palate relatively quickly but with hints of lingering chalkiness.
F: Low-medium bodied, moderate carbonation, chalky on the tongue and finish.
O: I'm hoping I got a bad can, especially since it's labelled "American IPA for The World Beer Cup". I have to wonder whether there's Enigma hops in the recipe, as I've found those very unappealing at times. One of the chalkiest mouthfeels I've personally had on a beer.
