its possible this is being called flat out hefe now, as i am seeing it has been recently added here, perhaps with the change and bump from 4% abv to 5% recently in utah, seems like everyone is just increasing the single percentage, im not sure, but this was just called salt flats hefeweizen on the menu when i enjoyed it on tap at slackwater in ogden. its a real cloudy one, dense looking, but with a tall and lasting creamy white head on it, maybe a little unrefined, but not unappealing, especially with the little bit of carbonation visible rising up through the haze. it smells and tastes the part, nothing unique about it, but it is what it says it is, wheaty and fresh, yeast driven, maybe a tad lighter to drink than it looks, but my only serious critique of this is that its not in a lighter and cleaner package, the flavors want to be drank in volume, but the texture doesnt quite allow it. subtle coriander to this, a light raw element to the wheat, and just a little finishing sweetness. i like the balance and taste a lot here, but this could be cleaned up even a little to yield a radically better beer. just my second from these guys so far, hope to check out their brewery next time i am out this way!
