From a can. A solid finger of white foam on top of a hazy rust orange beer. The nose is rye and citrus hops. Flavor follows nose. Medium bodied, well balanced. Nice lacing on the glass.

12 ounce single from the cooler at a Salt Lake City State Liquor Store, poured without expectation into a snifter. Uneasy head teeters up on clear golden pond, leaves the stage tobthe other players.
The rye has been kicked up, appropriately, in the 2024 incarnation of this brew. Hits the nose. Hits the senses too. Bam.
Taste is rye meets hops in a head on collision, rye from behind, and a decent punch of alcohol. Finish burps rye and leaves sweetly.
Mouth is medium-full, carbonation is driving this right rye rig.
Overall, Salt Flats tinked this DIPA into respectability.

Tap at Brewers Haven. Dark golden pour, scant head. Rich rye aroma, grainy. Rye dominates the taste, with hops playing second fiddle. Bready, oily, light hop bitterness at the finish.

these have sprung up fast in idaho, all over town on tap now. this one was a little generic and raw to me, not as bold on the rye as it could be, not all that interesting for a beer this strong as a result, and really quite a fire breather in terms of the alcohol, not bad, but not remarkable either. quite pale for what it is, a little brassy tone to it, not much head after it settles for a second, good clarity though. it smells boozy and a little sweet, some earthy character on the low end from the rye, but i smell it a lot more than i taste it, and overall this seems exceedingly simple, pale two row, pale rye, maybe a pinch of light crystal, irrelevant american ale yeast, not a whole lot of hops, relatively unexciting. i want more peppery rye spice in the flavor, i like whats there, there just isnt enough of it. the alcohol is for real on the swallow and it stays with me awhile. light honey or even toffee sweetness in support of the malt, lighter body for its strength, but overall a little exposed. even though this isnt great, i look forward to checking out their brewery this weekend!

Not terrible, have not been very impressed with Salt Flats beers but this one tasted pretty correct for an Imperial Rye.
