I tried a can of this beer from a mixed 12pck whilst visiting a former teammate and good friend in Park City, Utah. It looked, smelled, and tasted like a typical Mexican style beer. The mouthfeel was lighter in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

mexican ale, not lager, kind of a neat idea, not something we see too much of, done with corn, pale and light, but not as crisp and consequently not as refreshing as this would be if it were lagered. the yeast doesnt add any flavor either, which is a key part of a good mexican lager, i love that strain, but here its kind of missing to me, even though this is mostly clean on the ferment. the corn in the mash adds some mid palate sweetness to this, and i could actually see a lime in here working well, a little acid could brighten this up even more, but i am also thankful they dont add lime flavoring into this, would rather do it myself with real fruit. i like that i can taste so much of the grain, maybe a little more flavor and substance than in most mexican lagers in this vein. the hops are faint on the end but saaz-like which works in the style, and i think overall this is pretty successful, mildly more interesting than a typical by the book golden ale, but with the same mass appeal and general drinkability. i think the true lager fan will miss that aspect in both flavor and texture, but the regular beer guy will not appreciate a ton of difference. neat offering.

12 oz can. This is now 5% ABV. Not much aroma, some grain, malt. Not much taste either, a little malt, biscuit. Not my favorite style but I have tried better examples.
