sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into a snifter. The date stamp is 10/22/2X smudged last number, seems a 1 is likely but very hard to read.
Beer pours a black coffee color with a tan fizzy head of about 1 cm. This foam drops to the whispiest of edge layer that barely remains through the sampling. The aroma is dark chocolate, sweetened coffee and some smooth hazelnut notes. I dont get any booze and I cant sniff out the coconut anywhere. I also dont get any hops on the nose.
First sip reveals a medium to thick body with smooth texture and slightly sticky texture. It coats my lips with each sip. Carbonation is very soft and spacious and the beer drinks easy for its strength.
Flavor is rich with sweet and dark chocolate and sweetened coffee with a bit of brown sugar. I do get a little hazelnut on the finish and this lingers a bit. I do not get any hops and the booze is hidden throughout.
A nice robust imperial stout with a range of flavor experiences. Glad to have tried this one.
