We brewed an imperial milk stout, then conditioned it upon Costa Rican beans and roasted hazelnuts. Tis the season for coffee and coffee stouts at Imprint and Split Theory.

This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small head, and a bit of lacing.
This smells like vegetal and old coffee, very sweet hazelnut, chalk, and other metallic aromas.
What happened here? it's not that old, the coffee just clashes so weirdly and alarmingly with everything else. It tastes over roasted, kind of vegetal, kind of chalky, just like coffee that's been sitting out on the counter all day. There's sweet syrupy milk chocolate, and way too sweet hazelnut. I have no idea what the base beer tastes like, this mess of adjuncts just completely covers it up. There's also sort of plastic and playdough flavor.
This is very thick and very syrupy, with basically no drinkability at all.
I'e heard that Imprint's actual coffee side project is pretty solid, but if that's true, it did not translate a good coffee stout here.

A - Pitch black pour with thin toffee colored lacing.
S - Strong coffee and chocolate roast with just enough hazelnut to round things out. Light char and subtle smoke, the overall aroma is quite impressive.
T - Dark chocolate roast, well rounded coffee bean, delicate char, light hazelnut, and some alcohol presence with a light residual cream / lactose presence.
M - Thick, viscous, and sticky on the lips with a slight bit of warming in the back of the throat with a wet finish.
O - The overall blend on this beer is impeccable, I don't drink coffee but this is the real deal. Highly recommended.
