I’m usually partial to Mortalis for these Smoothie Sours, but seeing this one on Tavour instantly caught my attention. Any time you throw lemonade into one of these I’m inclined to like it, but the addition of prickly pear makes it all the more interesting. Let’s crack it open and see what it’s all about
Pours an opaque reddish pink with 2 fingers of slow forming pinkish orange head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves decent lacing
It’s a bit sweeter than I’d prefer in the nose, but there’s still a decent tartness to it. I’m picking up on aromas of strawberry ice cream, tart raspberry, lemon juice, graham cracker, vanilla bean, and light prickly pear
Unfortunately in taste it goes into an even sweeter realm, and there’s almost a medicinal quality to it. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting strawberry ice cream, sweetened lemonade, raspberry candy, vanilla, and light cheese cough syrup. The swallow brings notes of prickly pear, raspberry candy, strawberry gummy, lemon juice, and cherry cough syrup
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a smooth and slick beer. Finishes neutral but sweet
This isn’t very good, but it’s at least drinkable. I’m now somewhat dreading the other one I picked up from Imprint in this latest box
