Very nice beer, fantastic artwork, but first of all:
This beer is called Call of Lupulhu, not Call of the Lupulhu. If you’re going to add a beer to BeerAdvocate, the least you can do is read the fu*#ing label before you add it! Is that so hard to do? Especially when the name of this beer happens to be a direct play on the story Call of Cthulhu by Lovecraft, complete with awesome can art based on the story.
Since the BA website is potentially going to last for posterity, it might make sense to at least get the name of the beer right. Rant over.
As to the beer, a huge pine resiney dankness immediately makes itself apparent on the nose and palate along with a nice, warm balancing spice, but as it slowly warms, grapefruit zest leads on to a noticeable influence of dark fruits, like blueberries and blackberry jam, as well as apricot, honeydew and some light stone fruit.
It’s a pretty big, reasonably complex IPA with pleasant pine and dank, also with subtle rounding characters well worth getting to know. In that sense it’s a successful, heady brew that the Great Old Ones would be proud of. If you listen closely, indeed you might hear that Lupulhu is calling. Arise!

Dank bomb! Dharmasekr likey. I love the way the pine sticks in my mouth until I finish the sip. It washes away with a bit of sweetness. Super nice and a fine representation of a solid DIPA.

Canned 03/18/19
Appearance - Pours clear and yellow gold in color with a white, finger width head that displays good retention, settling to a thin, consistent layer of surface suds.
Smell - Super dank aroma with lesser citrus and a hint of fruitiness. Hints of bready malt sitting beneath.
Taste - Dank upfront with lesser orange and grapefruit notes. Some stonefruit pith nuttiness. Interesting finish, with hints of tart and tropical character. Lime, mango and papaya. Aftertaste returns to bitterness, with grapefruit pith and earthen dank devouring the fruitiness.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with fair carbonation. Slick, easy drinker at 8.5% with a smooth, dry finish.
Overall - Pretty good DIPA, but there's just to much dank pine throughout for me to really, truly enjoy regardless of the nice tropical surprise finish. Interesting beer, but it doesn't suit my tastebuds. Those who love the dank may love this one a lot.
