Picked this up at the Medora C Store when I was out in North Dakota a few months back. Never had anything from Stonehome before, nor had I heard of them, and this was a beer that was worthy of the Peace Garden State as it was easygoing, balanced, and had just enough wheat to ensure that this wouldn't be a typical American Blonde Ale or American Pale Wheat Beer.
Loved the dark wheat appearance to this was it had a waxy and slightly hazy hue to it. Plenty of even, slow-settling foam topped this off although the lacing left behind was nearly nonexistent. Lots of wheat, Pale Malt, and floral notes in the nose as some tall grass, light spice, and bread came through in the taste once this warmed up. Plenty to chew on here - literally and proverbially as this was not too dull and like North Dakota itself, had a subtle beauty to it that took a bit of time to fully appreciate. Very little cereal and adjunct in this as this felt like a truly crafted beer that straddled a few styles while being unique at the same time.
Alcohol? It's in here somewhere although I never detected it and could easily have had another after finishing this off. A chaser of water might be called for to fully get this down but by no means did this need a piece of fruit to cut it. No date on the bottom of the can but other than that, this was enjoyable and a worthy addition to the brews that I grabbed while on the road. You'd have to be heartless to pass this one up!
