Pours luxuriously deep auburn with very dark brown, almost black, shades. A dark chestnut head flashes and quickly forms a thin ring. Syrupy viscosity does not cling to the Pretentious Beer Glass Company dimpled mug.

The aroma contains cinnamon, bakers' chocolate, and black coffee. Chili powder comes late, while fresh coconut becomes pronounced with warmth.

The flavor is sweet and grounded in roast in keeping with the nose. It seems as if a smoky flavor is added. This is not quite Tiramisu, which is fine with me. The chocolate varies from unsweetened powder to rich milk chocolate with a hint of sourness. The long, mild finish is smooth, with coffee profiled throughout.

A full, almost dense, body and an oily texture of soft, smooth fur. Carbonation is light and fine, and the alcohol is far below expectations. Residual sugar collects on the lips, sufficient to require effort to separate the lips for each sip.

This is a subtle dessert beer, which I enjoyed on a warm Sunday afternoon out back. I imagine it would be even better under the stars on a cool night around a fire.

Picked this up a few weeks back at the Bottle King in Livingston, having never heard of Seven Island before and obviously, being the first on here to ever hear of this beer! Love the label and the ingredients that were in this as this was an incredibly rich and sweet brew, given how potent it turned out to be!

Of course, this poured dark like coffee with a full, mocha head topping it off as it the latter was quite silky and full of tiny bubbles. Surprisingly, the lacing left behind was nearly nonexistent except for some hints of thin rings near the top and some spotty sections along the lower half. Loads of freshly roasted coffee, baker's chocolate, vanilla, coconut sweetness, and booze in the nose as the taste followed suit and was just as rich, sweet, and luxurious. The chocolate was a bit more powdery and full of cocoa but that wasn't a detraction at all as there were hints of cream cheese and sticky, dark fruit in this that made this beer go down so easily for being so strong. A nice carbonation and full body only added to this beer's appeal as the aftertaste was full of vanilla, rich brownie, and rich pastry.

Yeah, this was a beast of a beer but with so much goodness going on, who's to notice? Like so many brews I've had lately, this needed a date on the bottom although it felt as fresh as could be. On a pure winter's night like tonight, this hit the spot and then some as I really enjoyed this and how well it was crafted - down to the label. Desserts don't get much better than this!
